We have recently had a large extension buit which provides amongst other facilities therapies, a hydrotherapy pool. This is very different to a normal swimming pool as the water is kept at a constant temperature of approximately 34°C , providing a lovely warm environment.
There is special sensory lighting, and a number of water features to make the experience all the more enjoyable. Plus the facility comes complete with a hoists ramps and a disabled changing room to ensure it is accessible to all.
What are the benefits of hydrotherapy?
Hydrotherapy is beneficial to residents, because the warm water and buoyancy stimulates circulation and makes exercise easier and more effective.
Because we have our own dedicated facility, we can control the numbers using the pool and the activities that are arranged to meet the needs of the individual. This means someone who is apprehensive can have their session alone in the pool if necessary.
The pool may be made available to relatives and carers for recreational use, if the facility is not already being used for theraputic reasons.
